After looking at all of my crabs and asking other crabbers to check their crabs I have come to the following conclusion:
Rugosus have a wide black stripe that reaches from one side of their head, over the shield to the other side. Rugosus also have a black spot on the front of their eyestalk beneath the eye.
E’s have a thinner stripe that does not go over the shield, with a small black mark behind the stripe. No black spot on the eye stalk of the E.
